Malone joins NBN Co

iiNet founder Michael Malone has been appointed to the board of NBN Company.

He replaces Internode founder Simon Hackett in the role.

Mr Malone founded iiNet in 1993, and later saw the company list on the ASX in 1999.

He resigned as iiNet managing director in 2014.

Mr Malone also sits on the boards of Seven West Media, Superloop, and Speedcast.

Mr Hackett, who became a non-executive director of iiNet when Internode was acquired in 2012, has resigned to focus on his role as executive chair of Redflow after serving on the NBN board since 2013.

In related news, fellow NBN director Shirley In't Veld was today appointed deputy chair of the CSIRO.

Ms In't Veld, the former chief executive of Verve Energy, joined the CSIRO board in June 2012
