One of Australia’s leading vehicle rental companies has allegedly fallen victim to a cyber-attack in which the emails and passwords of around 300,000 users were stolen.

One of Australia’s leading vehicle rental companies, Coach Hire Australia, has allegedly fallen victim to a cyber-attack which has seen some 300,000 emails, passwords and phone numbers stolen.
Cybercriminal group ‘0x0xba$e’ is claiming responsibility for the attack, which it said it completed on November 7.
It’s understood the group has not ransomed the data, which it claimed included hashed passwords, email addressed, phone numbers and passenger details, and is instead selling it online for just USD$1700.
New South Wales-based Coach Hire Australia operates across all Australian states and territories and offers rental of vehicles from five seats to 67 seats.
A Coach Hire Australia spokeperson told Business News it was not aware of the incident, but was investigating the claims.
"We don't hold customer passwords, but we do obviously have emails and phone numbers," the spokeperson said.
"Our tech team is not aware of any breach or hack. We do take our data very seriously and all our servers and data sits on Google servers.
"We are currently contacting Google's security team as a prevaution to see if they can throw any light on this claim."
It comes after mining services and transport company Goodline experienced a prolonged ransomware cyber incident over the past month.
Business News revealed on Tuesday Goodline computers had been locked down for weeks by ransomware group RansomHub, with 600GB of company data stolen.
Goodline has since restored their systems, with company director Catherine Kennedy telling Business News she had refused to pay the $1 million ransom demanded.
