CONSOLIDATED Business Media managing director John Webb has denied that his company’s two-year old glossy Perth Woman has been sold.
Quite the contrary, according to Mr Webb, who cited the re-entry into the woman’s expo market later this year as a key reason for keeping the magazine within the Consolidated Business Media stable.
“No, it has not been sold. It might be something we do in five years but at the moment it is an important part of the business,” Mr Webb said.
“We are getting back into the expo business. I invented the Every Woman Expo, Mienex, and the home shows and we ran those for years.
“We sold that three years ago to Exhibit and now that we have come out of restraint we are doing expos.
“We are currently selling the Perth Woman Expo for November.”
The Perth Woman Expo will compete with the expo Consolidated Business Media sold to Exhibit in 2000, The Every Woman Expo, which was held at the weekend.
Perth Woman has lost its second editor in two years with former News Limited journalist Jodie Hoggart recently replacing Sian Briggs.
Consolidated Business Media intends to launch a new magazine aimed at the male market later this year.
“It will be called Mentor,” Mr Webb said. “And it’s a body and soul magazine for men. I guess you could say it’s a Perth Woman for men but men like different things.”
The quarterly Mentor magazine will be packaged as a freebie with the Christmas edition of Perth Woman and will then have a shelf price of $5.95.
