The renovation and redevelopment of St John of God Health Care's Subiaco hospital building has won BGC Construction the top prize in the annual Master Builders Association (WA) awards.
BGC was also awarded the prize for best refurbishment or renovation of a building over $10 million.
The project - which included a new chapel, cafe and shop - involved the extension of the hospital's main building, refurbishment of theatres, and construction of the new Bendat Family comprehensive cancer centre and a multi-storey car park.
It is the third time BGC has won the top award in eight years.
Bunbury-based Perkins Builders won best regional project for the Smiths Beach Resort in Canal Rocks - a $20 million development of 39 two-storey luxury villas and a resort.
Extensive infrastructure works for the project included a conference building, restaurant, pool, tennis courts and landscaping.
Another regional award went to Broad Construction Services (WA) Pty Ltd, for its work on the expansion of the Kalbarri District High School.
MBA WA executive director Michael McLean said the St John of God redevelopment was a credit to the project team, which included STH Architects.
"Our judges were impressed at the very high quality of construction work and the complexity of the project delivered while the hospital continued with its normal operations," he said.
"It is great to see leading WA-based builders being recognised for the exquisite quality of their construction work for this complex hospital redevelopment."
