THE West Perth office market is practically full, but a series of new buildings in the area are helping to add capacity.
The latest project, which is yet to be approved, is an office tower proposed for 58 Kings Park Road.
The site contains a single-storey house used by a doctor's surgery, but plans have been put forward for an 8-storey building, with 20 offices (1,600 square metres of space) over three levels.
The building will also include five apartments, each taking up a single floor.
The site, owned by the Carcione family through Aspic Nominees Pty Ltd, was bought in June last year for $6.1 million from a company owned by 2005 Australian of the Year, Dr Fiona Wood.
O'Connor-based Carcione Group of Companies director, Vince Carcione, said the project would be the group's first venture into West Perth, as the business had traditionally focused on retail developments and shopping centres.
Another company related to the Carcione family, Sideston Pty Ltd, bought 21 Altona Street in West Perth last year for $4.5 million.
Mr Carcione said a development application for a mixed-use office and residential building was being put together for the site to replace the house, which is currently used by a dermatology practice.
The Carcione group also owns 3-5 Loftus Street in Leederville, occupied by mobile phone and digital goods retailer, Strathfield Group.
Plans are currently being developed for an office building on the site.
Construction at 58 Kings Park Road is expected to begin in August.
At the other end of the street, 10 Kings Park Road is up for sale.
The site is owned by an entity associated with Australasian Property Investments, which is hoping to develop the White Sands Hotel site in Scarborough.
