Recruitment agency Kelly Services Australia is moving its blue collar branch, Kelly Industrial, from the Perth CBD to Canning Vale as part of a wider strategy to decentralise the company’s blue collar staffing service.
The company moved into its Canning Vale office earlier this month, having recently appointed a new manager for the branch, and is planning to open another office in Malaga once a suitable site is found.
Kelly’s wider strategy is to open offices in Perth’s outer suburbs - including Joondalup, Fremantle and Midland - during 2008 and 2009.
Kelly Services WA regional manager Mike Nicholson said the move would provide a more local service to clients and candidates, particularly as Perth expanded and people were less willing to travel into the city.
“All of our major clients and a lot of candidates are based in the southern industrial corridor,” he said.
Mr Nicholson said although the new offices would be branded under the Kelly Industrial name, their scope may be widened to include other recruitment services.
Kelly Industrial will join a number of other blue collar employment providers with a presence in the Canning Vale area, including Chandler Macleod’s subsidiary, Ready Workforce, and Perth-based Integrated Group Ltd.
Last week, Integrated’s shareholders voted to accept a takeover bid from Melbourne-based property maintenance company, Programmed Maintenance Services Ltd.
Integrated’s managing director Chris Sutherland said the company’s expansion plans would remain unchanged following the merger, with regional offices planned in Karratha, Broome and Newman over the next six to 12 months.
“We already service quite a few clients in those areas. It’s a question of putting local representation on the ground and then trying to develop the local market as well,” he said.
Integrated opened a Geraldton office in October last year and has regional centres in Bunbury, Esperance and Kalgoorlie, as well as nine offices in Perth.
It acquired recruitment firm Sound Personnel in Kwinana earlier this year and has merged the firm with Integrated’s existing branch in Kwinana, doubling its size.
