Local Government minister Ljiljanna Ravlich and Regional Development minister Jon Ford have announced the appointment of Jennifer Mathews as the Director General of Department of Local Government and Regional Development.
Ms Mathews was appointed for a five-year term to commence on Monday, March 31.
She is currently the state manager of the Australian Trade Commission, a position she has held since January 2003.
Prior to this, Ms Mathews was a legal consultant with Freehills, Perth, and from 1997-2002, she was the director at the Western Australian state office of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
With more than 20 years of Australian foreign and trade policy experience, Ms Mathews has a broad understanding of the international, environmental and global trends driving the state's economic growth and resources boom.
Ms Mathews' legal expertise will equip her well for the regulatory and legislative aspects of the Director General position.
Both ministers look forward to working with Ms Mathews in her new role as Director General of the Department of Local Government and Regional Development.
