Jaxon builds parking lot at Guildford station

Local construction company Jaxon has won a $2.9 million contract to almost quadruple the size of Guildford train station’s parking capacity.

Jaxon will construct a new parking lot with a 350-car capacity on a currently unsealed area, which is directly opposite to an existing 118-bay car park.

Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the contract included construction of a bike and pedestrian path linking Johnson Street and the western pedestrian crossing.

When the project is completed, passengers will be able to access the new car park from Johnson Street.

“These extra parking bays will make public transport and even more attractive option for the residents of Guildford and surrounds,” Mr Nalder said.

“Now that the tender has been awarded, the project can kick into high gear and be completed later this year.”

No existing car bays will be closed during construction, and there will be no changes to the entry or exit points of the car park.

Construction is scheduled to begin early next month.
