Perth-based mining intelligence provider IntierraRMG has been acquired by American financial information firm SNL, with plans to integrate the companies' databases into a one-stop source of comprehensive information for the global mining industry.
IntierraRMG will be amalgamated with SNL's mining division, SNL Metals Economic Group, with the new combination to be branded SNL Metals & Mining.
IntierraRMG was formed in Perth in 2000 and has expanded its reach over the past decade through the amalgamation of a number of other mining-related businesses, with offices in the United Kingdom, Canada, Sweden and Australia.
Previously known as Intierra Resources Intelligence, the company acquired Swedish mineral economics and policy analysis organisation Raw Materials Group in 2011 and changed its name to IntierraRMG.
"Like IntierraRMG, SNL has a great repuation for quality and comprehensiveness," IntierraRMG chief executive Peter Rossdeutscher said.
"By combining product offerings, SNL's clients will have the best of both companies' individual product solutions under one service."
SNL Metals & Mining will provide data, news and analysis on global mining activity, as well as mining claims data for more than 60 countries, complete coverage of early-stage assets and high-quality forecast data.
"Following the many enhancements SNL has made to its mining platform in the past year, the addition of IntierraRMG marks yet another major step forward in the breadth, depth and quality of information we can deliver to clients," SNL Metals & Mining director Jason Goulden said.
"We plan to integrate our two databases and support IntierraRMG's other busines lines that are new to SNL, including strategic consulting, region-specific conferences and educational seminars."
SNL was established in 1987 as an information provider on the banking and financial sectors but has since expanded its reach to include insurance, real estate, energy and media and communications.
It expanded into the mining and metals sector with the purchase of Canadian company Metals Economics Group in 2012.
