ASX-listed explorer Infinity Mining has launched an air-core and auger drilling program within shouting distance of several historical mines at its Craig’s Rest project near Leonora in WA. Legacy drilling in the zone threw up a suite of dazzling intercepts, including 5 m at 57.9 grams per tonne gold from 16m and 2 m going 26.6 g/t from 58m.
ASX-listed explorer Infinity Mining has launched an air-core and auger drilling program within shouting distance of several historical mines at its Craig’s Rest project near Leonora in Western Australia.
Legacy drilling in the zone threw up a suite of dazzling intercepts, including 5 m at 57.9 grams per tonne gold from 16m and 2 m going 26.6 g/t from 58m.
Other historical results include 4m at 4.47 g/t from 30m, 8m grading 2.17 g/t from 61m, 4m running 3.81 g/t from 50m and 10m at 2.4 g/t gold from a shallow depth of just 2m.
The company says the new campaign is aimed at following up the historical results and testing a suite of structural targets along strike of the previous intercepts. First assays from the campaign are expected to start trickling in over the next few weeks.

I am looking forward to testing a range of new targets and reporting the assay results in the coming months.”
Drilling follows a recent rock chip sampling program at Craig’s Rest that returned grades as high as 37.64 g/t gold, in excess of an ounce to the tonne gold.
Infinity also bagged up half a dozen other rock chips grading over 1 g/t gold in the September campaign and says the results are further proof the asset could host a significant parcel of mineralisation.
Craig’s Rest was once occupied by a suite of small-scale mining operations in the late 1800s and hosts an extensive array of old mine workings that the company says remain prospective for gold.
According to a pair of WA state government-owned mining databases - WABMINES & MINEDEX, a total of 85 mine shafts, adits and open-pits mines are located between three prospects inside the larger project.
Infinity says a historical data review indicates the project’s precious metal mineralisation is distilled within a sequence of steeply dipping quartz reefs and stringer zones inside a granite package.
Infinity is going down the path of multiple other ASX listed companies who have successfully gambled on previous historical operators leaving plenty of riches behind from known operations and potentially even completely over-looking new deposits that were lurking nearby.
Craig’s Rest is positioned about 250km from Kalgoorlie and includes numerous potentially mineral-bearing outcrops blanketed by thick soil and alluvial material.
The project is part of Infinity’s Central Goldfields portfolio that includes eight assets in the revered Leonora gold district – a zone well regarded for producing the precious yellow metal.
Several significant gold operations are proximal to Infinity Mining’s Central Goldfields tenements, including Red 5’s 4.12-million-ounce King of the Hills operation and ASX-listed Northern Star Resources’ Kailis resource.
Infinity also has its foot on four other assets in WA’s Pilbara region where it is looking to eke out copper, lithium, nickel and gold.
