The state government’s vision of Elizabeth Quay as a hospitality precinct is taking shape, with the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority seeking operators for three food and beverage outlets.
Planning Minister John Day said the government was seeking interest from developers for the design and construction of the outlets.
“One of the main entrances on the west of Elizabeth Quay will have a venue for casual and alfresco dining overlooking an interactive water playground,” Mr Day said.
“A two-storey venue on the eastern promenade will also provide opportunities for waterfront and rooftop dining.
The third restaurant will be inside the reconstructed Florence Hummerston Kiosk, which Mr Day said was a key element of the island.
The outlets are expected to open in spring next year, Mr Day said.
The MRA has appointed a specialist leasing and property management agent to assist with the search for operators, as well as manage any pop-up facilities or mobile vendors around the inlet.
