Hall & Prior to run Donnybrook facility

Hall & Prior has expanded its services to the South West with the acquisition of a 21-year lease from the Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup to manage aged care home Tuia Lodge.

The shire will remain the landlord of the 40-bed home, with Hall & Prior managing and operating the site from July 1.

Hall & Prior chief executive Graeme Prior said the organisation was looking forward to becoming part of the town and delivering health outcomes for people in the community.

“As an aged care provider with over 30 years’ experience in the sector, we will leverage our expertise from owning and operating aged care homes across WA and NSW to provide exceptional care to the South West region,” Mr Prior said.

“This is an exciting time for the group as we continue to expand in both WA and NSW.

“We will work closely with the Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup and the WA Department of Health to deliver the world-class health outcomes the people of the South West deserve.”

Hall & Prior plans to refurbish the home and add an in-home community-based care program.

Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup president Brian Piesse said the decision to transfer management was made with the residents in mind.

“Hall & Prior have an excellent reputation for providing quality aged cares services,” Mr Piesse said.

“The shire is confident that Hall & Prior is best-placed to meet the needs of residents of Tuia Lodge now and into the future.”

The move means Hall & Prior now manages 17 homes in Western Australia and is ranked as the third largest aged care provider on Business News’ Data & Insights with 1,130 beds.

Other shires have relinquished management of aged care facilities to aged care providers in recent years.

In December 2019, Baptistcare acquired the management of the Kalkarni aged care facility in the Wheatbelt town of Brookton.
