Marcus Geisler has been appointed as chairman of WA’s Waste Authority for a two-year term, to replace outgoing chair Peter Fitzpatrick.
Mr Geisler is currently executive general manager west for construction, manufacturing and mining equipment rental company Coates Hire, and has been deputy chair of the Waste Authority for the last year.
Encycle Consulting Perth co-founder Anne-Marie Bremner has been appointed as a new member of the authority, and Shire of Broome councillor Jennifer Bloom has been promoted to deputy chair.
Mr Fitzpatrick chaired the authority, a statutory board that has responsibility for implementing the state’s waste strategy, for just under a year.
Environment Minister Bill Marmion thanked outgoing chairman for his contribution to the authority.
“Mr Fitzpatrick’s guidance has reinvigorated the Waste Authority,” Mr Marmion said.
“Among a significant number of achievements, he oversaw the development and release of the State’s first waste strategy, Creating the Right Environment, launched in March this year.
“The authority’s focus will now be on implementing the Waste Strategy and achieving the targets it sets for improved waste management across the State.”
