Geraldton-based GCo Electrical has won an $8.5 million electrical and instrumentation contract for works at Geraldton Port for Karara Mining.
GCo general manager Murray Hadley said the project was the biggest the company had ever taken on.
“In fact, I don’t recall an electrical company based in Geraldton that has done an electrical job this big before,” he said.
“We will have up to 40 workers on site during peak times.”
The contract works include the installation of cables and cable trays, wiring, switch rooms, transformers and lighting, as well as relocation works of existing port infrastructure including substations and high-voltage cabling.
