PERTH MLA John Hyde is positively brimming with ideas on how to improve our fair city. From the pollie who last month brought us the concept of ‘left turn at red lights’, comes a new concept on how to improve the Perth foreshore. Mr Hyde announced this week that a giant ferris wheel on the foreshore would be an iconic tribute to the state’s miners and mining heritage. And, it could be funded by some of the industry’s booming profits. "Ferris wheels resemble closely the wheels found at the top of mine poppet heads, and are classic statements of strong and simple design. The limp Belltower and the obese Convention Centre are design misfits – a simple ferris wheel would inject fun, class and simplicity back into Perth," he said.
