COMPANIES across the spectrum of Western Australian business have pledged their support for flood-ravaged communities in the eastern states and the Gascoyne region in WA’s north.

Donations have also been made to the Queensland Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal, as well as its local counterpart the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund.
Wesfarmers led the way with a $5 million donation to the Queensland Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal, plus $3.5 million raised in-store from customers
Leighton Group pledged $2 million to the premier’s appeal, and ConocoPhillips Australia has donated $1 million.
Mining giants BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto each gave $1 million to the premier’s appeal, with Rio Tinto Iron Ore and Dampier Salt pledging a further $100,000 to Carnarvon flood victims.
Liquid natural gas explorer Santos also donated, providing $500,000 for Queensland and $50,000 for WA.
Bankwest has pledged $50,000 for Queensland victims and waived ATM fees across the region, while NRW Holdings also contributed $50,000.
Locally, IGA donated $50,000 and Apache Energy $10,000 to the Gascoyne flood victims.
Property manager McCusker Holdings, directed by Western Australian of the year Malcolm McCusker, pledged $100,000 for the Queensland appeal.
Engineer Clough has started an employee fundraising drive where donations can be deducted from pay. It aims to raise $60,000 and that will be matched by Clough.
Prominent Perth businessman and Perth Glory chairman and owner Tony Sage kicked in $2 from every ticket sold to Glory’s most recent home game to the premier’s appeal.
International oil and gas company Inpex Corporation has donated $300,000 to the Queensland appeal and $50,000 to the Gascoyne appeal to assist in providing relief and rebuilding of communities.
Some companies have organised fundraising drives and events to generate funds and essential goods.
Mitchell Communications organised a ‘sizzle for flood victims’ at the Cambridge Bowling Club, with proceeds from an auction and lawn bowls lightning carnival going to flood victims and the company matching funds raised dollar for dollar.
The Burswood Entertainment Complex is holding a flood relief concert later this month featuring local bands, with proceeds going to both the Gascoyne and Queensland floods.
SNAP Printing is organising a drive of clothing and household goods for Queensland victims, collecting items at its Burswood warehouse to be sent to the flood zones.
Custom-home builder Cambuild is collecting canned goods and household items and sending regular trucks across to the eastern states.
Internet service provider iiNet announced fee relief for those affected by the Queensland floods and said it was launching a staff fundraising drive, matched by a corporate donation.
