Last week Family Business Australia, in partnership with WA Business News, presented this year’s State winners of the Family Business Awards.
Family businesses in their first generation to those that are into their fourth generation were rewarded. Special recognition was given to an employer supporting the efforts of non-family members and an employer who encouraged strong participation from a family member under the age of 30.
Family Business Australia WA president George Kailis said that most family businesses often shied away from the limelight and that those taking part in the awards deserved recognition.
He said recent international research showed that family businesses consistently outperformed other private enterprises and took a longer-term approach to business.
WA received more nominations for the Family Business Awards than any other State, testimony to the strength of WA family business.
Six companies won Family Business Awards. This special feature edition celebrates the achievements of WA family businesses.
The first, second, third and fourth generation award winners will compete in the national Family Business Awards being held in Coffs Harbour in October.
