US-based subsea technology group FMC Technologies has signed an agreement to supply offshore loading systems for Shell’s $12 billion Prelude floating liquefied natural gas development.
FMC announced today it would supply Technip France, which is part of the Technip Samsung Consortium, seven offshore marine loading arms, four for LNG and three for liquefied petroleum gas.
The arms will be designed and manufactured at FMC’s facility in France.
The contract is the latest in a series of deals the company has won for Prelude.
It announced an after-market agreement in June last year, which will see FMC’s Australian subsidiary performing installation and commissioning services for Prelude.
“Today’s announcement expands our existing support of the Prelude development, having received the subsea equipment contract in June of 2011,” FMC executive vice president, energy systems, Robert Potter said.
“The Prelude FLNG facility with be the largest floating offshore facility in the world, and we are pleased the Technip Samsung Consortium has selected our loading systems.”
