Nestled on the shores of the Swan River in Mount Pleasant is a flourishing yet sophisticated precinct. Cross Canning Bridge from the Freeway, and you’ll find an area that is fast developing into one of Perth’s most desirable lifestyle locations, due to its proximity to the City, river and freeway, and with an abundance of amenity on its doorstep.
The Canning Bridge Precinct is a vibrant urban area just five minutes from Perth’s CBD and situated around the iconic Canning Bridge. It is designed to offer a blend of modern living, bustling commercial activities, green spaces, and connectivity through efficient transportation networks. With a focus on sustainable development, the City of Melville’s vision for this area is to create a thriving and inclusive community where residents and visitors can enjoy a high quality of life amidst a scenic riverside environment.
Sister apartment developments Cirque and Cirque Duet by renowned local developer, Erben, are perfectly positioned to capitalise on the new community developing in the area and take advantage of all that is on offer.
“Cirque and Cirque Duet not only capitalise on the vibrant and connected community, but the developments themselves have contributed to the landscape and the community that is growing around them,” explains Erben Managing Director, Luke Reinecke. “The first tower of the development, Cirque was opened in 2019 and since then we have seen the area thrive. Residents have been delighted with the lifestyle and amenity that the location provides.”
Cirque has itself added to the locale with the inclusion of a Community Centre, a Business Centre and foundation tenant, Praline Café and Patisserie, which has quickly become a favourite for Cirque residents as well as the wider community. Cirque Duet, the second tower of the Cirque development, adds 93 new apartments to the area. Once complete, the sister developments will provide pedestrian access to the community between Kishorn and Ogilvie Roads, opening up the area and pedestrian access to the riverside and amenity even further.
A new favourite at Canning Bridge Precinct is the Rowing Pavilion, a new community-focused hospitality hub, also home to rowers from John XXIII College, Perth Rowing and Murdoch University Boat Clubs. Originally built for the 1962 Commonwealth Games, the Rowing Pavilion joins iconic Perth venue The Raffles, as a new gathering point for locals and visitors alike. Alongside multiple cafes, restaurants and high-end grocery store, The Good Grocer, Cirque and Cirque Duet now have an abundance of options and amenity on their doorstep, providing a unique lifestyle to residents and the wider community.
And of course, one of the most defining features of this location are the views on offer. Cirque and Cirque Duet offer some of the most desirable views of the Swan and Canning Rivers, Perth City and surrounding vistas .
Further plans for the area will continue to build on recent success. The City of Melville has committed to upgrading Ogilvie Road to enhance the pedestrian experience and to create more public open space in the area, and most recently released plans for two new green spaces for local residents’ recreational use. One of these spaces is a park located almost directly across from the Cirque developments, providing residents with direct access to the river front and additional options for those morning coffees or spaces for children to play.
While Cirque Duet residents will have access to the thriving community in the immediate surrounds, there is also an opportunity to tap into a community within the development. The development has been designed for residents to enjoy privacy in their own homes, but with the option of utilising common spaces and tapping into a residents’ community should they so desire. Upon Cirque Duet’s completion, the 20-storey tower will be linked to the Cirque tower at the fourth floor by a common podium deck, allowing residents to utilise the common facilities of both developments.
Mr Reinecke said the completion of Cirque Duet will see the whole Canning Bridge Precinct redefined, through the building of a strong connection to the community, with retail and commercial spaces residing in the towers.
“Our residents find the luxury and sophistication of our open planned designs coupled with the views of the river a strong drawcard. The added convenience of accessing the local cafes, walking to the river and some of Perth’s top schools has been another strong drawcard.”
Mr Reinecke also addressed the issue of housing supply and stock actually available within the Canning Bridge Precinct, given the multiple cranes currently across the skyline.
“Despite the current building activity going on in the area, there is still limited supply of stock with a majority of the apartments under construction already having been sold. With only two apartment buildings having commenced construction in Perth in 2023 (according to Urbis), the supply shortage is only going to get worse. This presents as a great opportunity to buy into an area that will grow in popularity as plans for the Canning Bridge Precinct are further realised and the supply becomes increasingly constrained.”
