Engenco wins $4m Roy Hill contract

Perth-based rail services business Momentum Rail has been awarded a $4 million contract to supply rail workers and train drivers to the Roy Hill iron ore project in the Pilbara.

Momentum, a subsidiary of listed engineering services group Engenco, will supply subcontractor John Holland with railroad personnel for 12 to 18 months from next month.

It is the third contract Engenco has won at Roy Hill, following the awarding of two preferred rail training supplier contracts worth a total of $1.5 million to Engenco subsidiary Centre for Excellence in Rail Training.

Engenco managing director Ross Dunning said the contract win demonstrated the company's expertise in the rail industry.

"Our Momentum businesss has been able to capitalise on our existing relationships at the Roy Hill project and provide a tailored solution to meet John Holland's needs," he said.

"This contract provides us with significant opportunities to increase our services to John Holland and Roy Hill and we look forward to helping to develop this large iron ore project."

Another Perth-based Engenco subsidiary, Gemco Rail, was last month awarded a $5 million contract for the maintenance of trains on Perth's metropolitan railway network.
