Eneabba power station gains network access approval

Wester Power has approved an access application by Eneabba Gas Ltd subsidiary, Eneabba Energy Pty Ltd, to connect to some 170 MW of power from the SWIS network for its Centauri 1 power station site near Dongara.

This 170 MW local connection greatly enhances the ability of EGL to supply the customer base with security of energy delivery.

Mark Babidge, managing director of Eneabba Gas said, "The SWIS access approval from Western Power brings us another substantial step closer to the development of the EEPL Centauri 1 Power Station at Dongara, giving our future customers further confidence that Eneabba Gas is offering a reliable and secure source of power for their projects in the energy-starved region of Mid West WA.

"Our state is facing a potential threat of future blackouts or power cuts if more energy isn't brought online soon. The independent market operator who controls the system has invited expressions of interest for additional generation capacity (4th February 2008) to meet future power demand. Eneabba offers a tangible solution with the Centauri 1 Power Station, and feasibly could bring power to the Mid West as soon as the new line is installed."
