EMCO wins $10m school contract

EMCO Building has secured the main construction works on the state government’s $21 million Kiara College redevelopment project.

That project, announced in June, includes a land package for the college's farm school, along with new facilities and upgrades to existing infrastructure.

Kiara College will gain a new performing arts centre and covered outdoor basketball courts, as well as receive alterations and refurbishments to its existing medical centre, physical education staff room and home economic studios.

External facades of some buildings will also be upgraded, while the onsite carpark will gain 23 bays.

The state government, through the Department of Finance, awarded EMCO with the college’s main construction works, additions and improvements late last month, ahead of two other submissions.

Osborne Park-based EMCO will complete the work by September next year.

The company will also provide building and facility maintenance services to the school.

Pre contracts manager Ronan Cosgrove told Business News EMCO Building now had more than $62 million worth of state government projects.

"As one of WA’s leading builders, we have a long history of building educational facilities for both private and public sectors," Mr Cosgrove said.

"The award of the $10m Kiara College redevelopment project will make it the fifth state government project that EMCO Building is constructing at present.

"We’re excited about the addition of this new project to the pipeline of work in-hand and we look forward to continuing our commitment to the state government by delivering quality projects to the state and the community alike."
