Two prominent WA women have been appointed as non-executive directors at national engineering and infrastructure provider Downer EDI.
Kerry Sanderson and Eve Howell will be the first Western Australians on the Downer board.
Downer provides engineering, contractor and mining contract work across Australia, including work on several WA mining operations.
Ms Sanderson has been representing the state government in Europe and Russia as Agent General since 2008, and will return from London to take the position.
Prior to that position she was CEO of the Fremantle Port Authority from 1991 to 2008.
Ms Sanderson has served as a director at Austrade, the Australian Wheat Board, Rio Tinto WA Future Fund and Landcorp.
Ms Eve Howell will retire as Woodside’s executive vice-president of health, safety and security at the end of the year.
She has been at the company for six years.
She has also held senior roles at Occidental Petroleum and Hadson Energy, and was managing director of Apache Energy.
Ms Howell has served as a director and president of the Australian Minerals & Metals Association, director of West Australian Ballet, and life member of the Petroleum Club of Western Australia.
The two new appointments begin on January 16.
