It’s no secret that cyber security is big news right now. Alongside the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, we saw unprecedented online criminal activity, with reports of cybercrime to businesses hitting an all-time high in April of 2020. Exploitation of sudden remote working, the panic of a global health crisis, and a largely prepared workforce was the perfect storm for cyber criminal syndicates and state-based actors to launch a wave of cyber terror.
How does a nation like Australia address the growing concern of increased online criminal activity in 2021? With our country’s digital economy worth an estimated A$457 billion annually, and our critical infrastructure the prime target of geopolitical cyber actors, now is the time to ensure our cyber security capabilities for cyber enabled industries are at their best.
The Cyber West Summit will address these concerns over two days on the 24- 25 June at the Pan Pacific Perth. The theme, Cyber Enabled Industry, will host speakers from various industries driving the underlying message that cyber security enables our economy and our industries. The summit will focus on 6 main themes for attendees:
- Critical Infrastructure
- Law Enforcement
- Defence
- Health
- Education
- Data Science
Cyber West have secured the Federal Shadow Assistant Minister for Cyber Security, Tim Watts MP, and the CEO of MTP Connect, Dr. Dan Grant as keynote speakers, with more to follow. Alongside the keynote addresses and plenary sessions will be the Cyber West trade show and exhibition, and we encourage all cyber security, emerging and established technology and industry specific companies to apply to participate.
One of the most exciting components of the summit will be the afternoon live demo sessions, where Western Australian cyber security companies and start-ups will showcase the capabilities of their products to a wide audience including investors and key industry decision makers.
We invite industry leaders, corporate and government executives, investors and cyber security professionals to be a part of Cyber West. You can register your interest in giving a live demo, speaking, sponsoring or exhibiting at the summit via the website www.cyberwestsummit.com.au
