Wellness group Bodhi J has opened its sixth day spa, following high demand for its facial and massage treatments.
The new, coastal-themed retreat is located on Station Street in Cottesloe.
It adds to Bodhi's existing day spas at Highgate, Wembley and Indijup, as well as at The Westin Perth and Qantas transit lounge at Perth Airport.
The new Bodhi J spa comes despite the group forecasting a loss of $1.2 million in June, following COVID-19-induced shutdowns and restrictions earlier in the year.
But Danny Taylor, who co-founded the award-winning business with wife, Tania Taylor, in 2007, said Bodhi J had experienced high demand for appointments after COVID-19 restrictions were eased.
He said the opportunity for a sixth day spa in Western Australia came about in July.
“Tania and I decided to go for it, at a time when many businesses were pulling back,” Mr Taylor told Business News.
“Demand is especially high at the moment.
“It’s a time when people … are needing more nurturing and time out, and we pride ourselves that, when in our care, our guests are our world.”
Mr Taylor said the business was in talks with a hotel group on the east coast for a potential new spa within the next six to nine months.
Further WA destinations were also in the pipeline, he said.
“Our natural, all-Australian spa offering, as well as our depth of wellbeing treatments, seems to resonate with the WA market,” Mr Taylor said.
“We’re also keen to roll out a program of Bodhi wellness retreats in 2021.”
Bodhi J has won several awards, including Luxury and Wellness Spa (Australasia) in 2019 – as part of the World Luxury Spa Awards – and Australian Day Spa of the Year in 2016 (Australian Beauty Industry Awards).
The business offers massages and facials, body and beauty therapies, and access to infrared saunas, steam rooms and hydrotherapy spas.
The new Bodhi J day spa opens in Cottesloe today.
