Contract wins for Decmil

Decmil Group has won three contracts worth about $34 million, with two of the contracts awarded to a joint venture established with a local engineering business owned by former Horizon Power boss Rod Hayes.

Perth-based Decmil has won a $14.7 million contract for the construction and commissioning of an airstrip and associated facilities at Cape Preston, south of Karratha, for CITIC Pacific Mining's Sino Iron magnetite project.

The scope of the work involves bulk earthworks, clearing and airfield pavements including drainage, electrical and fuel services.

Work under the project will begin in October and is expected to be completed during FY17.

Meanwhile, a joint venture between Decmil and Mr Hayes-chaired Balance Utility Solutions has won a $19.2 million engineering, procurement and construction contract, as well as a two-year operation and maintenance contract for, a 10-megawatt solar farm in New South Wales for Gullen Solar.

Decmil will hold a 67 per cent stake in the two contracts, with work under the EPC job to commence next month and be completed by August next year.

The operations and maintenance contract will run for two years starting from when the EPC work is finished.

Decmil shares were 0.2 per cent lower to $1.03 each at 11:30am.
