Western Australia's premier tech and innovation event, West Tech Fest will return to Perth this year from December 4 to December 9, with a strong focus on engaging local startups, investors and businesses.
It’s bolstered by an injection of $500,000 over two years from the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) through the New Industries Fund.
Organisers expect the sponsorship will help them build an even better festival in 2022, exceeding the success of last year’s, which was one of the biggest in the events’ 12-year history, hosting more than 3,000 delegates across 13 events.
They are calling for expressions of interest from prospective speakers, session producers, event partners, and festival sponsors urging them to register their interest early for a chance to influence festival content and put their brand right in front of Australia's tech elite.
The 2022 West Tech Fest (#WestTech2022) will see the return of the West Tech Fest Conference, Rotto Tech Fest, and Freo Startup Fest, in addition to a suite of new events and programs. They include an Innovation Showcase inviting the public to discover the diverse technology, entrepreneurs, and scalable businesses being developed in Western Australia.
A Cybotics AI Conference (in partnership with the City of Joondalup) is expected to attract a lot of interest as it showcases the best innovations Western Australia has to offer in cyber security, robotics, data science and artificial intelligence.
The WA Innovator of the Year Awards Ceremony, delivered as part of the festival for the first time, will see outstanding Western Australian companies who have developed innovative products, technology or services, competing for the honour of the 2022 title.
A Young Entrepreneurship Showcase powered by Student Edge will give aspiring entrepreneurs a valuable chance to present their start-ups to the business community, investors and public.
Social and networking events include a Sunday Sundowner Opening Night poolside at Joondalup Resort (Sunday, December 4) and the format of the Rotto Tech Fest at the end of the festival on December 9 has been revised to allow for greater access to the event, while maintaining the intimate nature of the event.
In addition, Ammo Marketing, led by Cam Sinclair and Jack Hallam, will develop a new digital content platform - West Tech Presents, hosting original content produced under the West Tech banner and giving local content creators working in the entrepreneur and innovation sector the opportunity to showcase their content to a broader audience.
Ammo Marketing is a major supporter of the local scene, helping more than 250 start-ups to leverage growth marketing to achieve success. Cam and Jack, creators of the very successful Weird Growth podcast, say their aim with West Tech Presents is to showcase the best of the West Australian start-up ecosystem while providing resources to help the sector grow.
