Technology company Cisco has been named the nation's best place to work, according to a survey by Great Place to Work Australia.
More than 39,000 Australian employees from 124 organisations were surveyed for the 2020 edition of Great Places to Work, before and during the coronavirus pandemic.
The survey recognises companies in three categories: organisations with fewer than 100 employees, between 100 and 999 employees, and over 1,000 employees.
Cisco, which has an office on St Georges Terrace in Perth, employs more than 1,000 people across Australia.
According to the survey, 97 per cent of Cisco employees – the most of any organisation in the same category – said the company was a great place to work.
Cisco vice-president of Australia and New Zealand Ken Boal said the recognition was a proud moment for the brand.
“We’ve improved our results by listening to our employees and improving our workplace culture – through increased transparency, trust, and our greater purpose to power an inclusive future,” he said.
When speaking about the survey, Cisco employees said the company was “serious about looking after employees” and also offered flexibility to work from home during COVID-19.
“The culture and the feeling of care you get from colleagues is what makes it special to work here,” one Cisco employee said.
“We work hard, and yet we look out for each other when we see someone struggling.”
Another Cisco employee said being surrounded by “the best in the industry” inspired them to perform better.
The runner-up organisations in the '1,000 employees' category were Salesforce in second place, followed by Mars Australia, SAP Australia, and DHL Express.
National IT company Interactive was crowned best place to work in the '100-999 employees' category followed by runner-ups Canva, AbbVie and SafetyCulture.
SC Johnson & Son secured best place to work in the 'under 100 employees' category followed by Insentra, Morgan McKinley and Beaumont People.
Great Place to Work Australia managing director Zrinka Lovrencic said COVID-19 put a premium on being a high trust people-first culture.
“We celebrate the companies that earn places on our 2020 Best Places to Work benchmarking study, and we hope this will inspire more companies to continue maintaining and building trust with their team members,” he said.
