Chevron, Rio execs get AAA award

Chevron Australia managing director Roy Krzywosinski and Rio Tinto Iron Ore chief executive Andrew Harding have joined some of Australia’s top business leaders in being honoured by the American Australian Association.

The occasion was the AAA’s eighth benefit dinner in Australia, held for the first time in Perth, at the University of WA’s Winthrop Hall last night.

The dinner attracted a sell-out VIP crowd, with guests including governor Malcolm McCusker, foreign minister Julie Bishop and premier Colin Barnett.

Past honourees include BHP Billiton chairman Jac Nasser, Westfield Group chairman Frank Lowy, Linfox founder Lindsay Fox and Dow Chemical chairman and chief executive Andrew Liveris.

The AAA is a privately funded non-profit organisation running since 1948, with a particular focus on providing educational fellowships.

Its initiatives include supporting the establishment last year of the Perth-USAsia Centre at UWA.

Mr Krzywosinski has been with Chevron more than 30 years and managing director of its Australian unit since 2008, where his responsibilities include overseeing the Gorgon and Wheatstone gas projects.

Mr Harding took charge of Rio’s global iron ore business in February last year, having previously run Rio’s copper business.
