Perth-based gold explorer Carrick Gold Ltd chairman Frank Carr has kept up his buying in the company with a $107,000 purchase last week, bringing the value of his stake close to more than $40 million.

Perth-based gold explorer Carrick Gold Ltd chairman Frank Carr has kept up his buying in the company with a $107,000 purchase last week, bringing the value of his stake close to more than $40 million.
One of a number of directors basking in the resources boom, Mr Carr’s interests in listed companies in which he has board membership is valued close to a $50 million.
Mr Carr’s 36 million shares, worth $42.5 million earlier this week, dominate the register at Carrick, which currently has 39 million shares on issue and a market capitalisation of $46 million.
He is also executive chairman of the recently listed gold and nickel player Shannon Resources Ltd, a float handled by his corporate advisory firm Noble Pacific Ltd. He holds a 9.6 million share stake in Shannon valued at approximately $4.8 million.
He is also on the board of medical technology development company Telezon Ltd, which emerged from administration in 2003 and has since raised $2.2 million. Mr Carr holds 5.4 million shares in the company valued at approximately $1.6 million.
A long-time player in the technology business, Mr Carr has ended his association with one of his long-running plays just as his new focus on resources has paid off.
Less than a month ago he quit as a director of Voicenet Inc, a foreign entity. Mr Carr used to be a director of listed group Voicenet (Aust) Ltd, formerly Southern Group Ltd, which is now air purification and air sterilisation company AFT Corporation Ltd.
In other directors’ interest news, Summit Resources Ltd managing director Alan John Eggers has increased his stake to $17.7 million. Mr Eggers founded Summit in 1986 in New Zealand, listing on NZX in 1987 and on the ASX in 1994.
He is director of private companies such as Western Geological Consulting. Summit Resources has 188 million shares on issue, representing $304 million in market capitalisation.
Mr Eggers is a geologist with 27 years experience in exploration for base metals, precious metals and industrial minerals.
