Canning Vale-based electrical contractor, Electrical Construction & Maintenance Australia took out the Industrial category award for excellence at the National Electrical and Communications Association Awards held last week.
EC&M were recognised for their involvement in Fortescue Metals Groups ambitious project in the Pilbara region which involved establishing a mine at Cloudbreak, a Port facility at Point Anderson and connecting them with a new rail facility.
EC&M's role was to provide electrical and instrumentation expertise at the Point Anderson port in Port Hedland, with particular emphasis on the ore handling and ship loading facilities.
EC&M's general manager, Simon Higgins said the award was testament to the enormous collective effort by his project team and his client, FMG.
"The relationship had to be collaborative and flexible to bring this historic project on line, this now firms our position as WA's largest privately owned industrial electrical contractor," Mr Higgins said.
