Caffissimo will launch two more stores in Western Australia this September, taking its tally of coffee shops to 10.
The coffee roaster and retailer has secured the tenancy at the WA Art Gallery and will open after extensive renovations are completed by the gallery on September 1.
Caffissimo director Mike Barr said a store in Fremantle would also open in September.
“We’re opening on South Terrace in Fremantle, opposite The Tea Merchant,” he said.
“We’re going to roast coffee on site there which provides us with a point of difference.”
The Art Gallery Caffissimo will offer more up-market food.
“It will be bistro-type food and it’s licensed, so we will sell WA wines,” Mr Barr said.
“It’s broadening what we do. Our cafes are based on a light meal that is coffee driven.”
The Caffissimo will be housed in the new refurbished foyer of the Art Gallery, which will include sheltered alfresco areas.
ISIS Projects has been awarded a $267, 104 tender for the front-of-house alterations.
The first Caffissimo outlet opened in the foyer of the BankWest tower about two years ago.
Since then the coffee shop concept has expanded into other building foyers and shopping centres across the metropolitan region and, according to Mr Barr, there are no signs of its growth slowing down in the foreseeable future.
