CZR Resources has launched a 5,000m reverse circulation drilling campaign at the Buddadoo gold project in the Mid West region of WA. Seven priority gold targets are set to be tested along the Gullewa Greenstone Belt that hosts the Deflector mine with more than one million ounces in gold resources in an adjacent permit.
The 85 per cent-owned Buddadoo project consists of about 300 square kilometres of tenure on the western edges of the mineral rich Youanmi Terrane that is part of the world-renowned Yilgarn Craton.
The Younami Terrane already hosts major gold mining centres including the Southern Cross district to the south and the Mount Magnet and Cue goldfields in the Murchison region to the north.
Intriguingly, Buddadoo lies within 10km of the Deflector gold mine operated by ASX-listed Silver Lake Resources. Deflector has existing resources of more than 1 million ounces reportedly grading a head-turning 13.2 grams per tonne gold.
To the north of Buddadoo, ASX-listed Firefly Resources is making waves at its emerging Melville gold find with a recent maiden resource of 196,000 ounces going 1.45 grams per tonne gold.
CZR is targeting orogenic-style gold mineralisation and the announced drilling campaign will target no less than seven independently generated priority targets along the regional Salt Creek Shear on the Gullewa Greenstone Belt.
The company reports that each of the targets cover a flexure in the regional shear where geophysical responses indicate the potential for the occurrence of gold. Surface geochemical sampling conducted by CZR has also identified anomalous gold mineralisation at the prospective areas.
The rigs are set to target outcropping bedrock that returned geochemical anomalism, together with drill-traverses that will test the bedrock in areas lying beneath colluvial and alluvial cover.
CZR anticipates the campaign to be completed in about six weeks with samples to be sent to the labs in intervals as the drilling advances.
