In light of the CCC report released today the following actions have been initiated by the relevant authorities.
The Premier, in consultation with the Minister for Water Resources, has decided to rescind the current direction given to Paul Frewer to act as Director General of the Department of Water effective from today.
Mr Frewer will return to the Department for Planning and Infrastructure. I am advised that the Acting Director General of the Department for Planning and Infrastructure will commence a disciplinary process with respect to Mr Frewer, in accordance with procedures set out in the Public Sector Management Act. Mr Frewer is currently on leave.
With respect to Mike Allen, I am further advised that the Acting Director General of the Department for Planning and Infrastructure will also commence a disciplinary process, in accordance with procedures set out in the Public Sector Management Act. Mr Allen is also currently on leave.
The Director General of the Department of the Environment and Conservation has indicated that he will commence a disciplinary process in relation to Mark Brabazon, in accordance with the Public Sector Management Act.
The Department of Premier and Cabinet will provide whatever advice and assistance these agencies may require in order to address the issues that the CCC's report has brought to light.
