Broad Construction Services has won the first stage works contract for the $300 million expansion of Perth Airport’s international terminal.
Construction will commence in May on the expansion, which will see a much-larger immigration area constructed on the first level, as well as expanded baggage claim, duty free retail and quarantine areas.
The works are expected to be completed in 2014.
“This contract award underlines Broad’s commitment to deliver service excellence to our clients and we look forward to working closely with the team to provide another quality, safe project,” Broad general manager, WA, Peter Moore said.
The international terminal expansion is part of a three-year, $750 million expansion at Perth Airport, which will include a new domestic pier, with the capacity to service new wide-bodied aircraft, such as the Airbus A380.
Broad is currently constructing the $120 million domestic terminal, which is running on time and on budget, Perth Airport chief executive Brad Geatches said.
“The transformation of the current international terminal represents the first stage towards achieving our vision of having all commercial air services operating from one convenient location by 2020,” Mr Geatches said.
