5 Senses coffee school manager Jennifer Murray came third from 18 competitors in the Australian Barista Championship.

Catherine Ferrari from European foods won the Australian Coffee Cupping Championship and will represent Australia in the upcoming World Coffee Cup Tasting Championship.

Coffee Cupping is the art of examining the defining elements of fresh, brewed coffee.

When perfected, 'cuppers' are able to recognise the tell-tale flavours of various coffee types and even pinpoint the exact region where the coffee was grown.

Gusto hears that Leederville has recently added a small bar to its nightlife scene, with Double Lucky being granted a conditional small bar licence.

The newest addition to Perth's small bar scene is located at 11/663 Newcastle Street, in the same complex as Niche Bar.

According the licence application, Double Lucky aims to provide a meeting place for Perth's 'creative community', which involves live music and DJs.

In January, Bar Rosso's licence application was rejected by the Town of Vincent (WA Business News, January 10).
