Aquabiotics, wholly owned and operated in Belmont, has developed a range of new products that offer efficient and cost effective solutions to bore stain and biofouling of bores, pumps and reticulation systems. Established in 1996, proprietor Bill Sidebottom has taken Belmont Auto Carpets from strength to strength. He attributes the success of Belmont Auto Carpets to his approach to customers, widening the product range, providing a delivery service and supplying product samples which customers can take home. Belmont Auto Carpets provides auto and marine carpet, outdoor carpet, automotive insulation and have a fitting service for foam and rubber. Mr Sidebottom also contributes his time by assisting young people in the area as a mentor in the Operation Livewire program.

Camwatch
Roger Broinowski decided it was about time that the public fought back against crime and has single-handedly taken Camwatch from a concept to a national crime prevention initiative. Camwatch is described as a low-cost community-based program that relies on a mix of cameras and impact stickers, with cell phones for added personal safety. The main idea is to network your whole street with Camwatch stickers so that the suspicious people know that they are on camera. Mr Broinowski enthuses that the effect is instant and very noticeable. Camwatch has now launched a national lost and found Internet register.
Crave
While many retail outlets profess to be family run Crave – the Essentials in Belmont Forum shopping centre can claim to be a little more family-orientated than most. Identical twins Karen Carrier and Tracy Dow, together with Shaughan Dunne, Karen’s partner all work in the store. The concept of coffee/tea/chocolates and contemporary giftware is fairly challenging and with a combination of rigorous and proactive customer education and appropriate stock select, Crave has managed to consolidate a promising start into a reliable and steadily growing business.
Edealism
Bernard O’Roukes established Edealism in 1998, which provides Internet, e-commerce solutions and multimedia services. Mr O’Rouke’s aim is to establish a new benchmark for web e-commerce and multimedia solutions in the industry. One of the many innovative ideas he uses is to export his services to the UK to capitalise on the exchange rate.
Fibre Packaging
Allan Miller established Fibre Packaging & Fyba Flower Power in March with the aim to sell environmentally friendly biodegradable and recyclable products for the food and beverage and horticultural industries.
Located in Belmont, the food packaging products are made from virgin fibre pulp from sugar cane, popular trees and also cereal starches. The horticultural products are made from recycled paper and cardboard with peat and fertilizer added which are planted directly into the ground with the seedlings and plants.
Forum House of Cards
Located in the Belmont Forum, Forum House of Cards taken over by Margo and David Combe in March 1999.
They have successfully changed the mix of product away from mainly novelties to more homeware and decorative gifts, as well as improving and expanding the Australian souvenirs section. A very successful customer bonus loyalty card was introduced in October 1999, associated with frequent greeting card purchases. Store employees are easy to spot sporting bright red tops with the Forum House of Cards logo emblazoned on the back together with name badges for easy customer identification
Gemini Introductions
Rosanna Heath established Belmont based Gemini Introductions in 1988 to provide a reputable and personalised introduction service for unattached ladies and gentlemen seeking a compatible partner or just wishing to make new friends. She prides herself on her matchmaking skills. With also organising dinner functions and social evenings for her members, she is certainly kept very busy with operating Gemini Introductions.

Olympia Publishing Pty Ltd
Olympia Publishing Pty Ltd located in Belmont, produces diaries, calendars and other promotional projects that are designed specifically for the Australasian market. Reading Cinemas located in Belmont offers customers the most advanced cinema technology in Western Australia. Reading Cinemas have a variety of marketing strategies in place including the Telethon charity fundraiser, in which a weekend of advance screenings at reduced prices was offered.

Squashworks
Dallas Trowbridge and Lynda Nottle established Squashworks located in Belmont in 1998. In July last year they took over the Carlisle Squash Centre, making Squashworks the only squash centre in WA actively operating two centres.
Both Dallas, Lynda and staff have participated in the Aussie Host Customer Service program going on to be awarded the status of a Gold Aussie Host Business.
Innovative customer service initiatives include a new “stretching station” where players can warm up correctly before playing and cool down after games and introducing playing partners – putting players who don’t have anyone to play squash with, in contact with other players.

Surf Gear, located in Belmont Forum is owned and operated by 25yo Candy Stemp and 24-year-old Mark Piani. More than just a surf shop, the Surf Gear range also includes skate gear and accessories such as decks, trucks and a great range of clothing. The store carries all the major surf labels including Billabong, Mossimo, Rusty and skate labels such as SMP and Split.
Surf Gear already gearing up for the summer season with its summer range and are stocking up with bathers, bikinis, board shorts and t-shirts in anticipation of the summer rush.

Superline
Superline located in Kewdale, produces plastic moulded products and specialises in fluorescent lighting and neon signage.
Established in 1953, Superline achieved status as a quality endorsed company in August 1997. Although the certification process took considerable management commitment and implementation, it served to strengthen Superline’s association with government departments.
Since obtaining quality certification Superline has established a stores department, improved staff involvement in quality control issues, reduced storage of obsolete stock and reduced waste reduction.
The Directors are committed to further improving the quality system and modifying the procedural content to incorporate Superline Neon and obtain future improvements in the system.
