Welshpool-based Balance Utility Solutions has been selected as the engineering and construction contractor for Terregra Renewables’ five-megawatt Mobilong solar farm, located north of Murray Bridge in South Australia.
Melbourne-based Terregra’s 5MW project will create approximately 40 jobs during construction, with work expected to be completed in April or May this year.
The solar farm will include about 16,100 photovoltaic modules and two containerised inverters.
Balance Utility Solutions recently completed the first ground-mounted solar farm for the Department of Defence and is currently developing hybrid power systems in Western Australia's Mid-West, on an island in the Whitsundays, and for a coconut processing facility in the Federated States of Micronesia.
Balance Utility managing director Rod Hayes said the company was delighted to be working with Terregra’s first solar project in Australia.
“The close working relationship we have created through project development and now into delivery has ensured a focus on performance and delivery, reducing the risks for the developer and for Balance as the EPC,” he said.
Terregra Renewables director Graham Pearson said Balance supported the company from the start of the development process under an early contractor involvement arrangement and was pivotal in helping to refine the project.
“We have valued their input along the way and look forward to partnering with them during the construction phase,” he said.
Terregra Renewables is a subsidiary of Indonesian company PT Terregra Asia Energy.
