BDO has announced the appointment of five new Partners across its Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane offices, bolstering the total number of Partners nationally to 200 in 2020.
Tony Schiffmann, BDO’s Partner leading the firm’s integration plans, said the 200 Partner count is a significant milestone for BDO and one that comes at a time when there is much to be celebrated across the firm.
In the 2018/2019 financial year, BDO’s Sydney office reported an 18% increase in revenue, while BDO’s Melbourne office reported a 17% increase in revenue. In November 2019, the Australian Financial Review named BDO as the “Fastest Growing Mid-Tier Firm” for the second year running.
“We are very excited to reach 200 Partners across Australia and this growth is testament to our investment in the development of our people. Our focus on our people is at the heart of our growth strategy, and this is proving to be very successful. BDO continues to win new work from our larger global competitors and we have seen another year of substantial growth in Australia,” Tony said.
“We expect 2020 will be an exciting year for BDO with new Partner promotions and talent joining the firm, continued growth and the merging of the Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane offices creating new opportunities for BDO to win high-calibre work that has traditionally sat within the domain of the big four,” he said.
Ashleigh Woodley, promoted from within, is the Perth office’s newest Audit Partner.
Ashleigh is experienced in both local and international markets and has worked with a diverse group of large and medium size public and private organisations across a range of industries.
The BDO Sydney office’s newest Audit Partner, Geoff Rooney, is a financial services specialist and comes from within the firm after joining BDO as an Associate Director in 2018. Throughout his career Geoff has managed multiple large and small audits and advisory engagements across various sectors, with a focus on financial services and retail.
A second new Audit Partner in Melbourne, Kathy Robertson, has also been promoted from within the firm. Kathy has more than 12 years of experience in industries spanning natural resources, manufacturing and distribution, and financial services.
The BDO Brisbane office has promoted two Associate Directors to Partner in 2020. Andrew Jones will be BDO’s newest Tax Partner, bringing with him extensive experience providing tax solutions and advice to large corporate, international and government clients. Joubert Breet will be the firm’s newest Risk Advisory Partner, with 20 years of experience providing contract and procurement assurance and advisory services to the private and public sector.

In addition to the newest Partner appointments announced today, since 1 July 2019 BDO has welcomed five new partners, Kamal Prasad – Technology Advisory (Sydney), Brad Reid – Business Services (Melbourne), David Yong – People Advisory (Melbourne), David Ward – Corporate Finance (Brisbane) and Shaun McKinnon – Advisory (Brisbane).
BDO released its global results in December 2019 with global revenue topping US$9.6 billion for the year ending 30 September 2019, representing a year on year growth of 10.1%.
