Aspen Group Ltd’s residential development arm, Aspen Living, has launched the latest stage of the Byford by the Scarp estate.
The new Acacia release comprises just 34 lots with prices starting from $189,900.
It is the first release since Aspen Group bought the estate through the acquisition of Caversham Properties in May last year.
Byford by the Scarp has 80 homes built on large elevated lots and will eventually grow to 700 homes on lots ranging from 450 square metres to 1,500sq m.
More than 250 blocks have been sold to date.
Aspen Living CEO Brendan Acott said Byford’s population was expected to grow to more than 20,000 in the next decade, and the estate would soon benefit from the opening of the Perth to Mandurah rail line.
The company says it has tried to preserve as much of the area’s natural bushland as possible, including 100-year-old trees, and is planning to create two parks within the estate.
“Byford by the Scarp is the only estate actually on the highline of the scarp. It’s also the only Byford estate with an established lake and native landscaping in three existing parks and open space,” Mr Acott said.
Aspen Living also manages three other residential land estates in Australia – Dunsborough Lakes in WA, Whitsunday Shores near Bowen in northern Queensland, and the Fern Bay Seaside Village north of Newcastle in New South Wales.
Aspen Living is also gearing up to develop four other residential estates nationally, including one in West Swan, to be called St Leonards.
The estate is expected to produce about 2,500 home sites over the eight-year life of the project.
The state government has already committed to first stage subdivision approval prior to completion of a district structure plan, with works likely to start in early 2008.
