Boutique developer Match has appointed Arccon, a commercial arm of Zorzi Builders, to restore parts of the heritage-listed WD & HO Wills Warehouse for its “Home” project on the corner of Milligan Street.
Built in 1927, the former Warehouse will be home to 30 warehouse apartments and 37 terraced apartments.
Work has already begun to repair ornate ceiling features and a grand central staircase, with a view to retaining 95 percent of its heritage fabric.
Before Match purchased the property for $4.65 million last year with 11 other investors, the building had been used as a roller-skating rink and nightclub and was a tobacco packing and distribution centre until 1967.
Match managing director Lloyd Clark said a considered approach was required for the project, as it came with no design or construction template.
“Arccon is an engineering-based organisation that works closely with a project’s architects and draws on international technologies to bring plans to life,” Mr Clark said.
Established only two years ago, Arccon has already amassed a portfolio that includes $70 million worth of specialised construction work, including turning the 1930s Bunbury Silos into 21 luxury apartments and two seven-storey apartment buildings in South Perth.
Match now has more than $100 million of projects on the cards, including four developments in Mt Lawley and Inglewood, and is rumoured to be planning a residential development atop the historic Melbourne Hotel, on the corner of Hay and Milligan Streets.
