John Gardner has been appointed as the chair of the WA Cricket Foundation board, taking over from inaugural chair Bob Every. Mr Gardner is the founding partner and managing director of two advisory firms: Vector Advisors and Sustainable Sport Australia. He has more than 25 years of experience in developing strategy and providing advisory services for business development, communication and investor relations. Mr Gardner served as founder and non-executive director of Citadel-MAGNUS until its acquisition in 2022. Outgoing Dr Every has served as WA Cricket Foundation chair for the past six years and formerly served a stint on the board of Cricket Australia.
Australia's North West, the peak tourism body for the North West region of Western Australia, has revealed Linda Wayman as its new chair, succeeding Kym Francesconi and bringing more than 35 years of executive tourism, media and government experience to the organisation. Ms Wayman previously served as the Southern Cross Austereo general manager for more than 14 years, a role in which she oversaw the Perth metropolitan radio stations Mix 94.5 and 92.9. Prior to this, she was the general manager of EventsCorp for six years. Ms Wayman currently serves as a board member at Tourism Western Australia and formerly completed a stint as a Tourism WA commissioner.
Property Investment Professionals of Australia has elected Perth-based Matthew Hughes to the board of directors. Mr Hughes is the managing director of both Capital Property Advisory and Matte Black Real Estate, and he also serves on the Real Estate Buyer’s Agents Association of Australia as the WA state representative. Former roles Mr Hughes has held includes REIWA Buyers Agency Committee chair and Momentum Wealth senior property strategist and buyer’s agent.
Homelessness services provider “My Home” has revealed Mirvac WA development director David Parsons as the newest addition to its board. Mr Parsons joined property company Mirvac in 2010 as a project director and was promoted to his current position in April 2023. Mr Parsons has also served on the board of the Property Council of Australia for the past four years. Prior to joining Mirvac, Mr Parsons spent for four years at JLL as a property valuer. WA-based “My Home” is a philanthropic housing developer, delivering housing for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Oil and gas giant Chevron has announced a suite of leadership changes including Balaji Krishnamurthy moving from its technical centre in Houston to become president of its Australian operations from 1 April. He replaces Mark Hatfield, who is retiring after 42 years with Chevron, including the last four as president Australia. Mr Krishnamurthy has been with Chevron since 2003, with the majority of his career in international business units supporting operations in Angola, Canada, Kazakhstan and Thailand. This included a 16-month stint as president Canada starting in 2021.
