BUNBURY-BASED thermal processing and materials handling company Ansac has acquired the intellectual property and copyright for the Jostek Boiler range.
Ansac managing director Charlie Martella said the Jostek acquisition would allow the 15-year-old company to provide a more complete range of equipment to clients.
It already supplies kilns and melting furnaces, mainly to mining industry clients.
Mr Martella said many of those companies also had boilers operating next to their kilns and furnaces.
“This makes marketing a lot easier,” he said.
“Now, instead of selling one product, we can sell two to the same client.”
Some of its larger kilns, for example, sell for around $250,000.
These kilns have been the company’s bread and butter because they are fully sealed and allow products to be burnt in an environment where they will not get exposed to other gases.
Its core business areas include industrial-mineral processing equipment including materials handling valves, custom-designed engineering solutions, and field service and spares.
Ansac has a global market for its products and usually sells its wares through large engineering companies such as Fluor Daniel.
That has helped the company maintain a low profile.
However, of late it has taken part in a couple of awards programs and won a best regional manufacturer award.
Ansac also was a finalist in the Small Business of the Year Awards.
Mr Martella said the Jostek acquisition would allow Ansac to develop new uses for its products.
Jostek was a Perth-based plate heat exchanger service company that bought the industrial arm of solar hotwater system manufacturer Edwards about five years ago.
However, it ran into financial difficulties in August, 2002, was placed into liquidation and Ansac successfully bid for the Jostek range. Ansac is a privately owned company.
