Amcom Telecommunications says it has fast-tracked its entry into the growing cloud computing sector after entering into a strategic partnership with data backup firm BlueFire Corporation.
Amcom said it would launch its cloud IT service in the fourth quarter of this financial year and it is expected to make a positive impact to Amcom's bottom line in financial year 2012.
Cloud IT involves the hosting of software and data over a network connection independent of physical office locations.
BlueFire currently services over 400 clients, hosting more than 1,200 servers delivered from data centres in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Auckland.
Amcom chief executive Clive Stein said the agreement added a powerful suite of IT solutions to offer its customer base.
"We are in a unique position to leverage our extensive fibre networks and customer base to deliver private cloud services across our unique network," Mr Stein said.
"Our customers are increasingly looking for these services. We anticipate demand will grow exponentially and we are ready."
