Aldoro Resources has intersected 6.7 metres of strong magmatic sulphide mineralisation in diamond drill core at its Narndee Igneous Complex project or “NIC” tenements located 90 kilometres south-southwest of Mount Magnet in WA. An RC rig has now mobilised to Narndee to commence infill drilling between the existing diamond drill holes to achieve a JORC compliant resource.
The recent drilling targeted the VC1 prospect within the NIC project that produced the 6.7m sulphide hit, one of the best magmatic sulphide hits to date in the area.
The 6.7m magmatic sulphide hit included five separate intervals of massive sulphides totaling 3.75m. Massive sulphides, which are important as they often host economical grades of nickel and copper, mean greater than 80 per cent of the rock is composed of sulphides.
The sulphide assemblages identified show pyrrhotite, pentlandite or nickel sulphide, chalcopyrite or copper sulphide and pyrite.
An RC rig has mobilised and commenced a grid-style drilling program over the southern portion of the VC1 target at the NIC project. Drilling is planned to infill current diamond drilling to accomplish approximately 40m by 40m drill spacings over a plunge extent of about 400m.
Mineralisation at VC1 starts at 100m vertical depth at the southern end of the planned RC program and is proposed to test to approximately 270m vertical depth at the northern end of the drill program. Mineralisation is currently open to the east, west and north according to the company.
RC drilling is expected to continue for another two to three weeks, after which, Aldoro will look to mobilise the rig to its Niobe project 40km south of Leinster to complete a lithium and rubidium resource drill out.
The diamond rig will drill another four holes at VC1 before drill testing an off-hole nickel sulphide target at the VC11 prospect, also located at the NIC project. A deep stratigraphic hole is then planned between the VC11 and VC3 prospects.
A high-powered fixed loop electromagnetic survey has also started and is designed to screen for deep or very conductive targets in the VC1, VC3 and VC11 areas.
Aldoro Resources has a portfolio of nickel exploration projects in WA in addition to its flagship NIC project. They include the Cathedral Belt nickel project surrounding St George Mining’s Mt Alexander project, the Leinster Nickel project and the Windimurra Igneous complex.
On the back of growing demand from the electric vehicle market, nickel is enjoying somewhat of a resurgence. Aldoro followers will no doubt be eagerly awaiting the plethora of drill results expected over the coming months.
