Perth airport’s first step into office development is paying off with its office complex, Alpha, set to be fully leased this month.
Construction of the three-level 4,000 square metre office building is due to finish in August and WA Business News understands two well-known companies are in final negotiations to take a 1,300 sq floor each.
Perth Airport leaseholders Westralia Airports Corporation will move its headquarters to the top floor of the building, which may eventually be joined to a separate office building known as Beta by an elevated walkway.
General manager of property Neil Kidd said the company was focused on completing its first office and was not moving to start work on the Beta office building until it had secured top-tier tenants for the first.
Despite offering generous car parking allowances for new office tenants, public transport services to and from the airport estate are not yet available and Perth Airport is conscious of providing more transport options.
“As Perth Airport becomes a location for more tenants and passenger numbers continue to grow, we will work closely with the state and local government to improve the transport options to-and-from the airport,” Mr Kidd said.
The airport is believed to be considering providing some tenants with a shuttle bus service while the airport population increases to a level to support a Transperth service.
Other office tenants soon to make Perth Airport home include Toshiba International, which is building a 2,050sq m office and workshop facility, and Fluid Power Technologies, which will join White Wires Australia within a 21,000sq m office complex being built by developer Desmar Holdings.
Toll Group, Toshiba International and Star Track Express are also establishing offices at the airport.
