Offshore oil and gas services firm Aecor Group has expanded through the acquisition of industrial rope access and inspection company Vertical Services.
The acquisition adds to the integrated range of offshore services provided by Aecor Group, which also owns AME Offshore Solutions, rental equipment provider Green Monster Offshore and Fusion Project Personnel.
Aecor directors Gus Costas and Saul Wende formed AME Offshore in 2002 to provide offshore engineering services before starting Green Monster in 2010 to supply the growing demand for industry specific equipment.
They opened Fusion Project Personnel in 2013 to provide training opportunities and contract staff for the offshore industry.
Aecor managing director Saul Wende said the majority shareholding in Vertical Services was a strategic move to further develop the strength and capabilities of the group’s services.
“The inspection, mechanical and rescue offerings provided by Vertical Services fits perfectly with our group of companies and further strengthens our position as a global leader in integrated offshore solutions,” he said.
Established in Perth in 1992 as primarily a rope access company, Vertical Services also has offices in Brisbane and provides a range of access, inspection and rescue services to the oil and gas, mining and civil engineering industries.
Vertical Services managing director Radu Nicola said the company was pleased to be joining a stable of such well respected companies as AME and Green Monster.
“We have worked together for may years and know the quality of work and commitment to service that all companies within the group provide,” he said.
“The Aecor group is a perfect fit for Vertical Services and allows us to keep focused on delivering our expertise to a broad range of clients and projects,” Mr Nicola said.
Mr Nicola will continue as managing director and no change is expected to the Vertical Services workforce.
The Aecor group has a history of strategic growth purchasing the former Austal service base at Henderson in 2013 (through AME Offshore) and established the Henderson Supply Base to provide further integration of services and support for the oil and gas industry.
“Aecor has always taken a long-term approach to building capabilities,” Mr Wende said.
“We remain focused on providing the best range and quality of services across the sector and will continue to look for growth opportunities that fit with our strategy,” he said.
