ASG wins $75m govt contract

ASG Group has beaten five other submissions to secure a five-year ICT contract with Main Roads Western Australia, in what is one of the largest ICT contracts awarded in WA so far this year.

Under the contract, ASG will be responsible for the management and support of Main Roads’ ICT infrastructure and systems across WA.

It will replace ASX-listed Empired, which saw its share price plunge in May after it announced it would not have its Main Roads contract extended.

Empired’s contract with Main Roads was extended until August, and in a statement the company said that not being selected would equate to a $10 million loss in revenue for the 2020 financial year.

The Main Roads contract win comes after ASG secured around $9 million of contracts with the Department of Education earlier this year for the ongoing use of its Oracle technologies.

In 2016, ASG was acquired by Nomura Research Institute, a Japan-based consulting and IT solutions group.

However, ASG’s head office is located in Perth, with six other locations in Australia and one in Hong Kong.

It has around 2,030 staff and is led by Dean Langenbach.

ASG's contract is one of the largest awarded in the state this year.

It has been exceeded only by a $124 million, five-year contract awarded to global ICT company Atos by the Department of Health. That contract involves shifting Health from its current ICT infrastructure supplied by Fujitsu Australia to a new hybrid multi-cloud ICT platform.
