The Department of Education has awarded two contracts worth $7.2 million and $1.9 million to Perth-based IT company ASG Group for the ongoing use of its Oracle technologies.
Having originally acquired the Oracle licences in 2013, the $7.2 million contract will extend existing licensing for two more years.
In addition, the department said it would procure advanced security licences to allow for data encryption, totalling another $1.9 million for two years.
Responding to Business News, a spokesperson for the department said it had a significant investment in Oracle, with the renewal of these licenses supporting e-learning and business systems as well as helping meet security and privacy obligations.
