APPEA appoints former Court govt adviser

The Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association today announced the appointment of Richard Ellis to the new position of Director - Government Affairs (WA), based in APPEA's Perth office.

Mr Ellis, who starts with APPEA on 18 September 2006, is currently employed in a senior Government affairs role with Telstra in Perth.

He has worked in a number of external relations and political advisory roles including as a senior external affairs consultant with Porter Novelli, Chief of Staff to the Hon Colin Barnett and Principal Policy Adviser with the (then) WA Minister for Resources Development.

"Richard brings to APPEA a great deal of experience, knowledge and advocacy skill to further strengthen the Association's WA presence, profile and success," APPEA Chief Executive, Ms Belinda Robinson, said today.

"We welcome his appointment to the APPEA team," she said.
